Friday was a big day for Sue A. Simon. After six weeks of having her right arm in a sling after shoulder joint replacement surgery, she had the sling removed. Although the sling kept her from doing much painting the last few weeks, she did start doing test runs so she’d be ready to hit the ground painting. The weaning away from the sling went well, as far as her art activities are concerned. It’s not the painting that will have to wait.

Barry Reppart began raising rabbits when he was a 4-year-old in Fredericktown. By the time he was in the second grade, he had more than 200 rabbits. Then they started to fall fatally ill of coccidiosis, an intestinal parasite. But long-time veterinarian Dr. Bolus, said Reppart, came to the rescue and paid a house call.
