MV school board to extend public comment period if needed

September 5, 2008

MOUNT VERNON – The Mount Vernon City Schools Board of Education will meet in regular session on Monday at 7:30 p.m. in the middle school library. The meeting will be to discuss regular business.

For the past three months, the board has suspended the 15-minute public participation time limit to extend discussion of timely issues. In an effort to preserve this opportunity for the broadest spectrum of the community, the board will continue to extend the public comment period if there are school district residents who have not addressed the board at any of the last three regular monthly meetings. Those individuals will be given priority and recognized first for public comment. To the extent there are others who do not fall in that category who want to address the board, they will be given the opportunity if the 15-minute limit has not been exhausted.

Written comments of any length may be submitted to the board without limit prior to the meeting.
