Press has been rolling on NIE for 11 years

While local schools have been in full swing for a few weeks now, some teachers throughout the area will be adding the Mount Vernon News and Newsworthy to their Monday lesson plans.

Four paws up for new Bark Park

On Sunday, the Knox County Park District dedicated its newly built Bark Park. This two-acre fenced area allows unleashed dogs to run, play and experience the outdoors. However, the canine must be socially adept before being allowed to run loose.

Sonfest rockers crank up the volume

A crowd of over 5,000 people gathered in the grove at Mount Vernon Nazarene University to enjoy Sonfest, an annual outdoor music event. The stifling heat and humidity did not subdue the enthusiasm of the young people, who danced and sang along to the music of several Christian Rock bands.
