Five sentenced in Court of Common Pleas

September 19, 2008

MOUNT VERNON — On Friday, Judge Otho Eyster in the Knox County Court of Common Pleas sentenced three men and two women for various felony crimes, according to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher.

Christine Perotti, 42, Mount Vernon, was convicted of patient abuse and sentenced to a three-year term of community control supervision, including a 30-day jail sentence that starts immediately. Perotti will serve a 15-month prison sentence if she violates any term of her supervision. Thatcher said on Jan. 20, Perotti struck an 88-year-old female resident of the long-term care facility where Perotti was employed as a State Tested Nurses’ Aide. Perotti was terminated immediately from her employment, and in May the state revoked her STNA license, according to Thatcher. Special Agent Ryan Houston, Ohio Attorney General’s Office, investigated the case.

In separate cases, Scott A. Wilson, 32, Mount Vernon, was convicted of theft and nonsupport of dependents. Wilson will serve concurrent three year terms of community control supervision, including a 90-day jail sentence that starts immediately. Wilson will serve concurrent 11-month prison sentences if he violates any term of his supervision. Thatcher said on July 24, Wilson stole $3,070 from the West Gambier Street residence where he had been a guest the night before. Cpl. Roger Monroe, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the case. In the last two years Wilson made only one child support payment of $236 to help support his daughter, and he currently owes $6,198.81 in back child support, according to Thatcher.

Lynda S. Estep, 45, Plain City, was convicted of three counts of certificate of motor vehicle title law offense. Thatcher said in August through November 2005, Estep filed for lost titles on three vehicles that actually belonged to an ex-boyfriend, and then she altered the owner information on the titles in order to sell the vehicles. Estep was sentenced to a three-year term of community control supervision, including a 60-day jail sentence that starts immediately, and she must pay restitution to the victim in the amount of $7,555. Detective Sgt. Gary Rohler, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, and Detective Cpl. Matt Dailey, MVPD, investigated the case.

Joseph S. Spearman, 26, Mount Vernon, was convicted of aggravated possession of drugs and sentenced to a three-year term of community control supervision, including a six-month driver’s license suspension. Spearman will serve an 11-month prison sentence if he violates any term of his supervision. Thatcher said on March 13, Spearman was found in possession of Adderall, a schedule II controlled substance, during a traffic stop for drunk driving. The State Highway Patrol investigated the case.

Dane E. Ferenbaugh, 26, was convicted of escape and sentenced to a two-year prison term. Thatcher said on or about Feb. 1, Ferenbaugh was under post release control supervision after being released from prison for a 2005 conviction out of Richland County. Ferenbaugh left the state without the permission of his supervising officer William Baer, adult parole authority, according to Thatcher.
