Work started this morning on rebuilding West Curtis Street along side the Armory at Five Point in Mount Vernon. These employees of Rietchlin Engineering of Crestline will take up and clean all the bricks before rebuilding the street base and then replacing the bricks. From left is Pete Rietchlin, digging up the bricks, and cleaning are Art Hardy and D.J. Carver. The street, between Main and Mulberry streets, will be closed for approximately six weeks.

Residents taking advantage of early voting

Early voting began Tuesday at the Knox County Board of Elections, and with the importance of this year’s presidential election, many people have begun to take advantage of absentee voting. Over 100 residents of Knox County walked in on Tuesday to vote, and about 350 have already mailed in their ballots.
