Two arrested as political emotions run high at restaurant

MOUNT VERNON — As Election Day nears, emotions are starting to run high and staunch supporters of various candidates are becoming more adamant in promoting their favorite.

On Thursday evening, things got a little out of hand. Two individuals allegedly entered The Alcove Restaurant carrying McCain/Palin signs. With both Democrats and Republicans present, an altercation took place, and police were called to quell the disturbance.

Capt. George Hartz of the Mount Vernon City Police Department said Daniel C. Clark was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, persisting with intoxication. Todd Clark was also charged with disorderly conduct, persisting. No injuries were reported.
