Danville man arrested for illegal trafficking

October 9, 2008

DANVILLE — On Wednesday, the Danville Police Department made an arrest following a several months long narcotics investigation.

The investigation was made into the illegal trafficking of Oxycontin pills by Homer David Carpenter, 41, of Danville. Danville Police Chief Monte Vance said the investigation ended Wednesday, after officers arrested Carpenter during a drug transaction.

According to Vance, as the arrest was being effected, Carpenter fled on foot; a brief foot chase followed, ending in the Danville Commons Apartment complex, where Carpenter was apprehended. Carpenter was then transported to the Knox County Jail.

Vance said Investigator Sgt. Tom Looney of the Danville Police Department led the investigation, along with assistance from Detective Sgt. Jeff Jacobs, Cpl. Matt Daily and Detective Craig Feeney, all of the Mount Vernon Police Department. He commended all law enforcement personnel involved, and said he feels it demonstrates how law enforcement, working together, will achieve the common goal of making communities across America a safer place in which to live.

The agencies involved are members of the multi-county METRICH Narcotics Task Force.
