Temporary tenants found for Armory

MOUNT VERNON — For at least 12 months, soldiers will once again walk the halls of the old Ohio National Guard Armory on Mansfield Avenue.

Construction phase set for wastewater plant

MOUNT VERNON — The city is one step closer to undertaking a complete upgrade of its wastewater plant, following action taken by council Monday. Council voted to waive the required three readings and adopted a resolution to allow city Safety-Service Director Dave Glass to enter into a contract with Malcolm Pirine Inc. for engineering services to design the upgrade.

Howard retires as Realtor

MOUNT VERNON — Life’s twists and turns can sometimes take one in unexpected directions. Such is the case of Jane Howard, who recently retired as a Realtor after 24 years. It was not something she imagined she would do until she actually did it.

City to add position at police dept.

MOUNT VERNON — Councilman Mike Hillier, chairman of the city’s Fire Police Civil Defense Committee, requested council waive three readings and adopt an ordinance fixing the number of hourly city employees. The request was made at the council’s meeting Monday night.
