Freshwater hearing update

October 29, 2008

MOUNT VERNON — Mount Vernon Middle School Principal Bill White has been on the stand this morning, testifying in the John Freshwater termination hearing.

According to Mount Vernon News Staff Reporter Pam Schehl, White was asked by Mount Vernon School Board Attorney David Millstone to explain what constituted a religious display, among other questions.

He is expected to continue his testimony this afternoon when the hearing resumes after lunch.

White is currently under cross examination by Kelly Hamilton, Freshwater’s attorney. Hamilton, according to Schehl, asked why teachers this year have not been asked to remove Bibles from their desks.
