Chandler pleads guilty to murdering his wife

MOUNT VERNON — According to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher, a Mount Vernon man pleaded guilty to murder Tuesday.

Elmer Chandler, 75, appeared Tuesday in the Knox County Common Pleas Court before Judge Otho Eyster.

A firearms specification and a charge of tampering with evidence were dismissed.

Chandler is accused of killing his wife, Joann Chandler, in their Miller Road farmhouse in May.

Thatcher said the court has ordered a pre-sentence investigation.

Sentencing has been set for Jan. 16, 2009.
