FREDERICKTOWN — Sordy’s Moon Grill in Fredericktown has been sold. It has been known in Fredericktown and environs as a family-friendly restaurant serving healthy portions. Now it has a new owner and name.
Local Fredericktown CPA Linda Brake has purchased the restaurant and given it a new name, Eats & Sweets.
“I always wanted to get into the restaurant business,” Brake said. “So I took the opportunity.”
Brake did have some related experience. She is the former owner of Brake’s Ice Cream Shop, which she ran from 1987 to 1994.
“My cousin Mike Brake owns it now,” she said.
There will be some changes to the menu, Brake said. As the new name indicates there will be more emphasis on baked goods than before.
“We want to put in our own bakery, eventually,” Brake said.
Brake has also made some upgrades to the kitchen and is in the process of making changes to the decor as well. But it will still look to serve the same clientele.
“We are still a family-oriented restaurant,” she said.
Hours have been expanded somewhat. The restaurant will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. except on Fridays when it will be open until 9 p.m.
“We will be serving breakfast all day,” Brake explained. “That seems to be very popular.”
