MOUNT VERNON — Five men were arrested last week following a drug raid at a Kenyon College apartment.
According to Knox County Sheriff David Barber, detectives executed a search warrant late Monday evening, Dec. 8, at 204 E. Woodside Drive in Gambier. Barber said the search warrant was obtained as part of a continuing investigation of drug trafficking at the college.
Barber said the following were arrested and transported to the Knox County Jail: 20-year-old Kenyon College student Nicholas A. D’Ambrosia of Woodside Drive, Gambier, for felony charges of permitting drug abuse; 20-year-old Kenyon College student Stephen H. Winick of Tucson, Ariz., for felony charges of permitting drug abuse; 22-year-old Muskingum College student Nicholas D. Fanning of Cleveland for felony charges of trafficking in marijuana; 20-year-old Muskingum College student Joseph C. Miller of Barnesville for felony charges of trafficking in marijuana; and 19-year-old Muskingum College student Dutch Bess of Crooksville for misdemeanor charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.
All five of the subjects have since been released from jail on bond and their cases are pending in court.
Barber said the raid was the result of the work of Detective Sgt. Gary Rohler and detectives Roger Brown and David Light in cooperation with the Kenyon College Security and Safety Department and the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office. Both the sheriff’s office and the county prosecutor’s office are active members of the Metrich Enforcement Unit.
