No injuries reported in Gambier Street fire

MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Fire Department responded to a call of smoke at 112 E. Gambier St. at approximately 4 p.m., Tuesday. Mutual aid is being provided by College Township and Fredericktown Community Fire Department.

According to preliminary reports, no occupants of the apartment were injured.

The building, owned by Wayne Gottke, is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Firefighters continue to battle the blaze.
