It's been a busy year for Knox County firefighters.
MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Fire Department continues to investigate blazes that have occurred in the city over the last several weeks.
The cause of an early morning fire at 511 Newark Road on Nov. 18 is not considered suspicious said MVFD Chief Shawn Christy, although an exact cause is unknown at this time.
The fire Friday at the home of George Ellis, 914 Howard St., remains under investigation, but so far, Christy said, all indications lead him to believe the fire was accidental.
The investigation continues into the cause of last Tuesday’s fire that consumed the H.M. Young House, 112 E. Gambier St. Christy would not offer any possible scenarios for the cause of that fire.
