MOUNT GILEAD — A Danville area man was killed and his wife severly injured in a one-car crash Sunday night.
Harold H. Dye Jr., 78, Orange Hill Road, died when his car crashed at the intersection of Danville-Amity and Monroe Mills roads at 7:33 p.m.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Dye, the driver, was northbound on Monroe Mills Road and failed to stop at the intersection. His car crossed Danville-Amity Road, hitting an embankment. The car ran up the bank and flipped over, hitting a small tree before coming to rest on its left side.
The Fredericktown Fire Department rescue squad cut the top off the car to help with the rescue. Alma F. Dye, 74, was flown to Grant Medical Center in Columbus by MedFlight helicopter. The Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District sent a squad for mutual aid.
The Fredericktown Fire Department and emergency medical service had a dozen people on the scene. Mrs. Dye is reported in serious condition today. The patrol has the crash under investigation.
