Howard woman dies of gunshot wound Sunday

December 29, 2008

HOWARD — A 59-year-old Howard woman died of a gunshot wound Sunday. The Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District EMS and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to 24159 Coshocton Road, the home of Barbara and Eldon Edmister at 9:03 Sunday morning. The caller to 9-1-1 reportedly stated Barbara had shot herself just below the sternum, before the call was disconnected.

The EKCJFD staged down the road from the residence, until sheriff’s deputies arrived and secured the scene. EKCJFD medics then transported Edmister to Knox Community Hospital by squad, because high winds caused MedFlight helicopters to be temporarily grounded.

No further information was available about the investigation from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office at press time.
