State science consultant explains classroom standards

MOUNT VERNON — David Millstone, attorney for the Mount Vernon Board of Education called Joseph Faber, assistant professor of biology at Ohio University - Lancaster to the stand this morning as the John Freshwater termination hearing moves forward.

Faber served as a science consultant for the Ohio Department of Education in developing Ohio’s science curriculum in alignment with Ohio standards for grades six through eight.

He explained the standards and how they related to lesson plans and classroom handouts and activities. Millstone asked questions specific to handouts John Freshwater presented to his eighth-grade students.

  The 2009 Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 28. It forms at the old high school football field at the end of West Gambier Street. It then travels east along Gambier Street, then north on Main Street to Public Square. The procession leaves the staging area around 1:15 p.m. and should arrive at South Main Street at approximately 1:30 p.m.
