Fire erupted from the rear of the Victory Church of Christ, 12470 Upper Fredericktown Road, early this morning. Mount Vernon and Fredericktown firefighters fought the fire in minus 1 degree temperature. There was no wind. Using a fire hydrant at the intersection of Upper Fredericktown and Clinton roads, firefighters laid a hose line to supply the fire trucks behind the church. The extremely slippery Upper Fredericktown Road was closed off at about 7:45 am., and remains closed at press time.

The Knox County Safe Communities Coalition met for its first meeting of 2009 to discuss safety issues in Knox County.
