Groups to purchase smoke detectors for residents

Fire erupted from the rear of the Victory Church of Christ, 12470 Upper Fredericktown Road, early this morning. Mount Vernon and Fredericktown firefighters fought the fire in minus 1 degree temperature. There was no wind. Using a fire hydrant at the intersection of Upper Fredericktown and Clinton roads, firefighters laid a hose line to supply the fire trucks behind the church. The extremely slippery Upper Fredericktown Road was closed off at about 7:45 am., and remains closed at press time. Updated:10:06 am

Auditor’s office busy dealing with complaints

Knox County Auditor Jonette Curry has been busy her first week in office. Curry has taken over the auditor’s duties, which include addressing taxpayers’ concerns about property tax increases in the county and managing the appeals process.
