Elmer M. Chandler, 75, Mount Vernon, was sentenced to a prison term of 15 years to life for murder. Thatcher said Chandler shot his wife, Joann J. Chandler, with a .22-caliber rifle, on May 27, 2008. Detective Roger Brown, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the case.
Shawn G. Williams, 31, Howard, was sentenced to a total of eight years in prison for two gross sexual imposition convictions. Williams will also be required to register his address with local authorities for 25 years after he is released from prison.
Thatcher said Williams had sexual contact with two girls who were under the age of 10, between January 2003 and December 2007. The case was investigated by Knox County Children Services with the assistance of the Child Advocacy Center at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and by Detective Sgt. Jeff Jacobs, Mount Vernon Police Department.
Matthew C. Clark, 35, Mount Vernon, was also convicted of gross sexual imposition and sentenced to a two-year prison term. Clark will also be required to register his address with local authorities for 25 years after he is released from prison.
Thatcher said Clark had sexual contact with a girl who was under the age of 13, between March 1, 2005, and July 19, 2006. Detective Tom Bumpus, KCSO, investigated the case.
Paul D. Azbell, 45, Mount Vernon, was sent to prison for three years for burglary. Thatcher said Azbell broke into a Mount Vernon residence on March 31, 2008, but he fled when he was caught in the home by the resident. Patrolman Justin Trowbridge, MVPD, investigated the case.
