MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Fair Board announces that Lonestar will be entertaining the grandstand crowd at this year’s fair.
Performing Friday, July 31, at 8:30 p.m., Lonestar will offer up some of its top hits, as well as a few new songs off its latest album.
For multi-platinum artist Lonestar, the future is now. The group is leading the way of next-generation artists by taking control of group members’ careers and how they market themselves. During a time when the music industry is seeking direction, Lonestar has found its direction with its new single “Let Me Love You.”
Lonestar feels more like a band than ever, with new lead singer Cody Collins and 15 years of success in sales and touring. The group has sold over 10 million albums.
The mantra of Lonestar today is “Better access. Better communication. Better results.”
The band’s musical legacy is tied to modern-day classics such as “Amazed,” “I’m Already There” and “My Front Porch Looking In.” When its longtime front man left to pursue his own career, Lonestar rebounded and adapted to change.
Keech Rainwater, Dean Sams and Michael Britt were united in their goal of keeping Lonestar together and continuing to work together to make new music. To this end, they listened to countless CDs and MySpace page songs, as well as making phone calls and brainstorming for ideas for the lead vocalist replacement. Their search led to a young man from Florida who Sams heard singing in a bar in Kennesaw, Ga.
To that end, Cody Collins brings to Lonestar a perfect complement to the band’s current musical dynamic.
“We feel like we have the opportunity that few bands ever get,” said founding member Sams. “We’ve sold millions of records, have had 10 No. 1 hits, and now we have the chance to take control of our careers and do it all over again.”
