MV man arrested after shooting

MOUNT VERNON — A Mansfield man was hospitalized and a Mount Vernon man jailed following a shooting early Saturday morning in Clinton Township.

According to Knox County Sheriff David Barber, deputies and detectives responded to a report of a shooting at 12:49 a.m. Saturday at 604 Smith St.

Barber said Jeremy Fisher, 28, of 115 1/2 W. Blanche St., Mansfield, was shot outside the residence and transported by private vehicle to Knox Community Hospital with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He was flown by MedFlight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, where he was listed in stable condition.

Barber said Bruce Jones II of 614 Broadway St., Mount Vernon, was arrested and charged with felonious assault. He is being held in the Knox County Jail.

According to Barber, the shooting followed an altercation at the Smith Street residence. Detectives are continuing their investigation of the incident.
