Troopers investigate fatal crash

The Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred Saturday morning at 4:25 a.m. on Weaver Road in Miller Township, Knox County.

The crash involved a 2003 Ford Explorer, driven by Cory M. Morrison, 20, of Martinsburg.

Morrison was traveling northbound on Weaver Road in a 2003 Ford Explorer when he failed to negotiate a left curve going off the ride side of the roadway striking several trees. The vehicle came to final rest facing northbound off the east edge of the roadway with heavy front end and ridge side damage. Mount Vernon, Utica and Homer Fire and EMS Departments responded to the scene.

Morrison was flown by Med Flight to OSU Hospital in Columbus, with non-life threatening injuries. Thomas A Johnson, 20 of Utica and Ryan C. Lambert of St. Louisville were ejected from the vehicle. They were pronounced deceased at the scene by Knox County Coroner, Dr. Jennifer Ogle.

The crash investigation remains under investigation.
