  • Blown fuse knocks out power

MOUNT VERNON – A power outage effected 440 customers on Thursday at appromixately 11:20 a.m. by a fuse failure within the vicinity of Yauger and Upper Gilchrist roads. American Electric Power addressed the problem by replacing the fuse and restoring the outage to residents and businesses at 12:38 p.m.

Vikki Michalski, spokeswoman for AEP said, “When [fuses] fail it sounds like a shotgun going off.”
