  • Geraci to perform at festival

  • May 22, 2009

MOUNT VERNON — The Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival announces Sonny Geraci will be performing at the 2009 Dan Emmett Music & Arts Festival on Saturday evening, Aug. 15.

Geraci is proclaimed by many as the most versatile singer and performer in the business today. He first exploded on the scene as the original lead vocalist with The Outsiders who hailed from “The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame City” Cleveland. The Outsiders recorded for Capitol Records, turning out four Top 40 hits: “Time Won’t Let Me,” “Respectable (What Kind of Girl is This),” “Girl In Love” and “Help Me Girl,” which was arranged by Chuck Mangione.

Geraci was a street kid, growing up in Cleveland to the music of Motown, the British invasion and all of the music that came before. When he sings Bobby Darin, listeners can close their eyes, and it is Bobby. Geraci touches on Do-Wop, Sinatra and even a medley of Jimmy Webb classics.

His biggest hit song was “Precious & Few.” As lead vocalist of his group, Climax, the million selling hits that were written exclusively for Geraci, “Rock & Roll Heaven” and “Bend Me, Shape Me” he performs live, as well as a tribute in a “Rock & Roll Heaven” medley: from Elvis, Bobby Darin, Buddy Holly, the Beatles, Ritchie Valens and Jim Morrison.

Along with Geraci’s group, the stage presence, comedy, musicianship and, of course, the great music itself, performed by one of the original artists of the music, makes for a truly entertaining evening.

Reserved seating for the Sonny Geraci performance is available. The reserved area is preferred, up-close seating, available on a first come, first served basis.
