A helicopter will be flying low over southeast Mount Vernon out to Hopewell Road most of the day Tuesday. The Columbia Gas Transmission Company is conducting a close scrutiny of a 10-inch natural gas line that feeds into Mount Vernon.
The helicopter crew will use infrared radar to detect leaks and visual checks for anything interfering with the gas line. There will also be Columbia Gas personnel on the ground working with the helicopter. A company spokesperson said the survey will probably start about 9 a.m.
