We have already shared with you some of the changes you will see beginning with the July 1 edition of the Mount Vernon News. Those changes dealt mainly with the new look on Page 1A and in our sports section. We will also make some changes to our inside pages.

On our editorial page, we will continue to run the From our files column and the From our files photos. Both of these popular features resonate with our readers, and we have received many positive comments about the memories these features revive.

The business page is renamed the Financial page, to better reflect the entire scope of money and finances. Although the stock markets are not the sole measure of the economic health of the country, they can be a general indicator. A graphic showing how the Dow Jones, S&P 500 and Nasdaq performs each day will be included in the Market Review section. In addition, gold, oil and currency will be reported each day.

We will continue to run the New York stocks and Chicago futures on a daily basis, as well as Ohio eggs.

Producers Livestock results will be printed once a week, and will be the result of the local auction held each Wednesday in Mount Vernon.

Other features which will continue to appear on the financial page are the local stocks, the Who’s News in Business section and local stories.
