  • New look comes to the News beginning July 1

  • June 30, 2009

Of the changes that will go into effect July 1, pages on which readers will see the biggest difference are the Entertainment/Community and Lifestyle pages.

A food page will still appear on Wednesday and a religion page on Friday.

Senior citizen menus will continue to run on Thursday, and the gardening theme will be retained in the Saturday edition of the News. The weekly movie review will still appear on Saturday, unless a special circumstance, such as an early premiere, warrants running it earlier in the week.

The pages on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday will be called the Community page, to better reflect the variety of stories which will appear each day. Features relating to health, senior citizens, fashion, parenting and education will appear throughout the week; stories will not only be about what is going on in the community, but will also include stories that will be of interest to the community.

The size of the photos for weddings, anniversaries and engagements will change; these notices will also now be listed by the names of those involved. For example, anniversaries will be listed by last name; weddings by the groom's last name and bride's maiden name, and engagements by the last names of the couple. They will run throughout the week, except for Wednesday and Friday.

We will continue to run reports of club activities throughout the week.

The Agriculture page will continue to appear each Saturday.

Other changes readers will see throughout the paper include an updated look for headers, and in the way photo credits are noted. We encourage our readers to let us know what they think of the changes. As I said before, we're excited about the changes, and think you will be, too.
