Ahead of schedule
Workers from Kokosing Construction of Fredericktown were laying down the first layer of asphalt on the east side of South Gay Street between East Gambier and East Vine streets Wednesday afternoon. This is the first of three layers to be applied. According to Mount Vernon City Engineer Cameron Keaton, the work is about a week ahead of schedule. He added that if the weather cooperates, the whole project should be done ahead of schedule. (George Breithaupt)
