  • MVPD makes drug bust

MOUNT VERNON — Late Friday night and into the early morning on Saturday, members of the Mount Vernon Police Department Emergency Services Unit, detectives and patrol personnel executed a search warrant on a residence in the west end of Mount Vernon.

Police department personnel seized more than 30 grams of cocaine, a large quantity of marijuana with an estimated street value over $10,000, several items used for the cultivation of marijuana, miscellaneous items of drug paraphernalia and an amount of cash in excess of $2,000.

The case will be turned in to the Knox County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges and a forfeiture of the house. This case was part of an ongoing investigation by the Mount Vernon Police Department, which is a member of METRICH, the multi-county drug and weapons task force.
