Utica Care Center residents evacuated after fire scare
Homer firefighters walk around the roof of the Utica Care Center, Wednesday, after the nursing home staff called to report smoke in the building shortly after 8:30 p.m. No fire was found; the smoke odor is believed to have been created by an overheated television. DQ opening delayed
Work continues on the new Dairy Queen Grill & Chill on Coshocton Avenue. According to Christopher Turk, director of restaurant development and operations, Dairy Queen Brazier Franchise Division, a few unexpected problems have come up that have delayed the opening of the restaurant. At this point he expects to open around the first part of September. (George Breithaupt)
Large barn fire challenges several FDs
Over 70 firefighters from 12 Knox and Licking County fire departments battled a barn fire on Bell Church Road at the county line for several hours Tuesday. Hundreds of burning round bales of hay were removed from the barn and extinguished with water and foam. (Melissa Raines)
