  • Coldstone Creamery teams up with Tim Hortons

  • August 7, 2009

MOUNT VERNON — Coldstone Creamery is known for its large variety of freshly made premium ice cream, ice cream cakes, cupcakes and beverages such as shakes and smoothies. All this will be available in Mount Vernon at 5 tonight.

As part of a co-branding deal between Coldstone and Tim Horton’s, all the products and services will be a part of the Tim Horton’s on Coshocton Avenue.

“We are shooting for getting it open at 5 p.m. on Friday afternoon,” said Steve Hill, owner of the local Tim Horton’s. “We put it in the left- hand side of the store and installed all the counters [Wednesday] night. We are getting ready to get the blast freezer up and running and we will start making ice cream here [Thursday].”

Hill said they will be making ice cream all day.

“We will be making it fresh 24 hours a day,” he said. “We thought it would be a unique opportunity to bring something special to Mount Vernon. Tim Horton’s and Coldstone have been working together for seven or eight months on a co-branding relationship. So we were offered the opportunity and we jumped on it. We are very excited to be a part of it.”

Hill said they would be offering the full line of products and services. Coldstone is known not just for their ice cream but for the customer’s ability to create their own custom ice cream creations by choosing the ice cream flavors and different mix-in combinations.

The opening of Coldstone also means new jobs for the area.

“We have hired some new people to get ready for this,” Hill said. “And we look forward to adding more people as we move forward.”
