  • August 10, 2009

MOUNT VERNON — A two-car crash Sunday afternoon caused two people to be flown by MedFlight helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said both cars were eastbound on New Delaware Road when Dianne Baker, 45, Warsaw, went wide and started a left turn onto Springwater Drive.

A car traveling close behind Baker, driven by Emily Fry, 19, Mount Vernon, hit Baker’s car in the left rear door, rolling it on its top.

A passenger in Baker’s car, Beth McPhillen, was still in Grant’s emergency room at press time. Dianne Baker’s condition is unknown.

Four other people were taken to Knox Community Hospital by Mount Vernon and Central Ohio Joint Fire District squads, where they were treated and released. One passenger in the Fry car was Nathan Fry, 17, Mount Vernon.

Passengers in the Baker car were Kevin Baker, 54, Kiysina Kest, 16, and Samantha McPhillen, 15, all of Warsaw

The crash is still under investigation.
