MOUNT VERNON — More than 800 American Electric Power customers were without power Tuesday evening after tree limbs fell on a power line on Sandusky Street at the Pleasant Street intersection.

According to an AEP spokesperson, power was restored in phases. Over 650 customers were returned to power by 8:17 p.m. and the remainder were back online by 4:13 this morning.

During the outage, many street lights were affected. Drivers are reminded that during such situations, intersections are to be treated as a four-way stop.
