No fire lane parking to be enforced

Mount Vernon Fire Chief Shawn Christy, outside the Mount Vernon High School, Thursday afternoon, asked several drivers to move their vehicles which were parked in the fire lane. The vehicles were blocking emergency vehicle access to the high school and middle school. The Mount Vernon Police Department and officials from the Mount Vernon City Schools were both present to support the fire department’s effort to maintain emergency access to the building.
