Basement collapses
The front porch and part of the basement of this home at 203 Mansfield Ave. collapsed Saturday afternoon following a water main break in front of the home. The broken line dumped thousands of gallons of water into the front yard, saturating the foundation and filling the basement with over 2 feet of water. The residents, who were in the basement at the time, escaped unhurt. The home was declared temporarily off-limits by the fire department until the city engineer’s office can determine if the home is safe. (Melissa Raines)
