Paying respects

St. Vincent Elementary School held a brief rememberance ceremony Friday morning honoring those who died Sept. 11, 2001. The flag, sent to the school by 1st Lt. Andrew Doup, U.S. Air Force, an alumni on duty in Afghanistan, was flown June 21 in Afghanistan. The flag was raised to half-staff by students, from left, Billy Davis, Sam Wendt, Chandler Talbott, Molly Burnside, Mary Arnold and Matt Arnold. Walking for charity

Don Stevenson, 73, has been walking from Cleveland since Tuesday and expects to arrive in Cincinnati on Friday. Stevenson is making the trek to draw attention, and donations, to the Special Olympics. Since 1998, he has logged 40,000 miles walking across the United States for charities. (George Breithaupt)
