Pie auction raises over $8,000

Apple, pumpkin, berry, peanut butter, peach and mincemeat are among the wide selection of pies sold Saturday during the Centerburg Oldtime Farming Festival pie auction.

    Gillens win at 5K run

    It was a race for colon cancer research, screening and care for patients of the disease. The 5K run and walk was held Sunday afternoon at the Knox County Fairgrounds, under the umbrella of the national organization “Get Your Rear in Gear,” based in Minneapolis, Minn.
  • Sonfest attracts large crowd for music with message

    The large crowd gathered to enjoy some great Christian music in the Grove of Mount Vernon Nazarene University on Saturday at Sonfest 2009 was not disappointed. This year’s festival drew some well-followed groups such as Switchfoot and Big Daddy Weave, as well as some newer and lesser known groups who could soon top the charts themselves.
