Sonfest attracts large crowd for music with message
This year’s Sonfest concert festival at Mount Vernon Nazarene University drew about 5,000 Christian music fans who turned out to see popular bands such as headliner Switchfoot, who performed their hit songs, as well as covers of some familiar favorites. (Joe Huddleston)
Cleaning up the river
Members of the Mount Vernon High School Environmental Club, led by advisor Marcie Steen, spent Sunday afternoon cleaning up a stretch of the Kokosing River at Memorial Park. Wearing boots and gloves the students, who organize the river cleanup each year, hauled 1,716 pounds of trash out of the river, which filled a large Dumpster. (Melissa Raines)
