ST. LOUISVILLE — When the North Fork School board met at Newton Elementary on Monday, Tim Jordan, Utica Junior High School science teacher, was formally honored for being a DOW Professional Excellence in Education Award recipient.
Treasurer Jack McDonald said on Tuesday that the rest of the meeting was largely routine.
Regarding personnel, the board accepted letters of resignation from Jeff Hindel, fitness supervisor, retroactive to Aug. 31; Laura Barkschat, bus driver, effective Sept. 4; and Michelle Rey, server, effective Aug. 23. It also approved Mary Boesch as the food service supervisor substitute, retroactive to Aug. 24, and approved stipends for Virtual Learning Academy instructors and other supplemental positions. The board employed Tascha Clark as a bus driver, approved a quartet of students as vocational work study participants, added to the classified substitute list and approved the certificated substitute list.
Other items approved by the board included routine fiscal actions as well as bus routes for the 2009-10 school year, and the Utica High School FFA trip to the national convention in October at no cost to the board. The board also approved Denison University to provide tutoring services to elementary students during the 2009-10 school year.
Prior to adjournment the board went into executive session to discuss personnel and property, with no action taken which related to the executive session.
The next regular meeting of the North Fork Board of Education will be held at Morgan Grange at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 19.
