MOUNT VERNON — The old Northend Laundromat at the intersection of Belmont and Mansfield avenues is starting a new life as Belmont Laundry and Tanning. Owner Mark Lybarger said the building is being completely renovated and will have new laundry equipment.

Work that has been going on the past several weeks includes installing new plumbing, wiring and carpets, and getting interior ready for the seven new Maytag washers and 13 dryers the facility will have.

“It will be like brand new, and very clean,” Lybarger said.

There will also be seven tanning beds.

For the comfort of customers, Lybarger said, there is a lounge area with vending machines and a big screen television set.

The opening date is Monday, Oct. 26.
