MOUNT VERNON — The termination hearing of Mount Vernon Middle School science teacher John Freshwater resumed this morning after being on hold since April.

According to Mount Vernon News reporter Pam Schehl, Dave Daubenmire took the stand and answered questions regarding his teaching background, an ACLU lawsuit against him for praying with his high school football team, a class he taught at Mount Vernon Nazarene University regarding religion in the classroom and his involvement in the Freshwater rally on Public Square in April 2008.

Schehl said Daubenmire testified that it was he, not Freshwater, who instigated the rally on April 16, 2008, and that he wrote the statement reflecting Freshwater’s views that Freshwater read that day.
