New windows

Work is well under way installing the new windows at the old Mount Vernon Middle School on North Mulberry Street. Many of the old window frames were boarded up and some windows had broken panes, allowing birds and vandals to enter the building. (Virgil Shipley)

Getting vaccinated

A well-organized health department crew with three stations quickly vaccinated young people for the H1N1 flu Monday afternoon. A Fredericktown football player, Tyler Hathaway, 17, was actually interested and almost smiled while getting his shot from Registered Nurse Marcia Tidyman. Tyler is the son of Dan and Maureen Hathaway. More than 100 children received the vaccine Monday. (Virgil Shipley)
