New law helps blood banks
Sixteen-year-old Centerburg High School student Bryan Thompson relaxes while phlebotomist Terri Donaldson of the American Red Cross, Central Ohio Region Blood Services, oversees the donation of some of Thompson’s O negative blood which will be used to save lives. The blood drive at CHS on Friday was the first at the high school since a new Ohio law allows 16-year-olds to donate blood with parental permission. (Melissa Raines)
A pile of ashes
In a little over two hours Saturday morning, it was all over. The landmark Corner Grille on the southeast corner of South Main Street and East Ohio Avenue was reduced to a five-foot pile of rubble. During demolition, the brick and mortar front corner of the bar was brought tumbling down in a cloud of dust. (Virgil Shipley)
