Smoothing out the road
As part of the curb and sidewalk improvement project, some intersections will be smoothed out in order to create a more level driving surface. The bump in the street driving across East Vine Street on McArthur Street is one such area. Pictured, from left, Paul Cline, city project supervisor; Allen Albright, Smith Construction foreman; and City Engineer Cameron Keaton look it over Wednesday while a backhoe smooths out the base to replace the bricks. Volunteers will be ringing their bells at several businesses throughout the holiday season to collect funds to help with The Salvation Army’s community assistance programs. This year’s goal is $65,000. (Virgil Shipley)
