For many people, a parade is not a parade unless at least one marching band provides the cadence and rhythm to keep toes tapping and the spectators smiling.
With weather forecasters calling for a sunny Saturday with temperatures in the upper 40s, the annual Christmas Parade is destined to bring all sorts of “characters” out on the streets of downtown Mount Vernon.

The Fredericktown school community has once again pulled together to accomplish an amazing feat; this one will benefit everyone who frequents the Fredericktown Community Library.

After standing in line for an hour and 40 minutes, Deanne Collins of Marengo was the first into the Kmart store when the doors opened at 6 a.m. today. Nearly 300 people were standing in line in the windy, 33 degree cold for bargain shopping on the day after Thanksgiving.
