MOUNT VERNON — For those last-minute shoppers, the Downtown Christmas Shop Hop could be just what is needed to wrap up Christmas gift buying on Saturday.

“We want to bring shoppers in to the great shops we have downtown,” said Corby Wise, Mount Vernon News advertising manager. “In doing this, we encourage everyone to shop locally all year long.”

Shoppers need to bring the entry form found on Page 8B of today’s edition of the Mount Vernon News to participating merchants on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Employees in each shop will sign the form and when all the spaces are filled in, simply drop the entry form off at the News office, 18 E. Vine St., by 10 a.m. Monday.

Two winners will be drawn from the valid entry forms for 100 Downtown Dollars each. These dollars will work just like cash at the participating merchants.

“This is the perfect opportunity for those who have never shopped downtown Mount Vernon to become acquainted with wide variety of services that are available,” Wise said. “For those that already shop downtown it’s a great way to earn extra spending power.”

Merchants participating include Aunt Bee’s Quilts & More, Herald’s Appliances and Electronics, Johnny’s Mattress & Furniture, Mt. Vernon Hearing Aid Co., Page One Group, Paragraphs Bookstore and Root Art Center.
