  • December 21, 2009

MOUNT VERNON — The 2002 Chevy Avalanche stolen from the Dennis Church Road home of murder victim Jean Davis was recovered Monday evening in Licking County, according to Knox County Sheriff David Barber.

“The truck has been recovered in Licking County,” Barber said. “No arrests have been made yet.”

Davis was found shot to death outside her home Sunday morning by a friend who came to check on her when she did not show up for church.

Police officers across central Ohio have been looking for the truck since the hours following the discovery of Davis’ body.

“The recovery of the truck is a major part of the investigation,” Barber said.

The sheriff said while the recovery of the truck is an important development, investigators continue to seek information relevant to the investigation.

“Certainly we still want people to call the sheriff’s office detective division if they have any information about the homicide,” Barber said.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division can be reached at (740) 393-6800.
