  • Shooting ruled self-inflicted

  • December 22, 2009

MOUNT VERNON — After making an investigation into the shooting of Jesse Ervin in Riverside Park on Sunday, Detective Craig Feeney of the Mount Vernon Police Department has determined Ervin was injured as the result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to Feeney, there was no assault on Ervin as originally reported.

Original reports suggested Ervin received a text from someone to meet him or her at Riverside Park; the shooting occurred at the park.

The case will be reviewed by the MVPD for potential charges against Ervin.

Ervin was reached at OSU Medical Center this morning, but said he did not want to talk about the incident to the Mount Vernon News at this time.
