FREDERICKTOWN — An accident with a wood splitter caused injury to a 65-year-old Fredericktown man Wednesday.

Jim Miller was splitting wood on the Burl and Roger Billman property on 7550 Billman Road when the accident happened. A friend, Claude Likins, said Miller had just started the engine on the splitter and was replacing a can of starting fluid when the cuff on the sleeve of his coveralls caught on three-quarter-inch bolts on the power shaft of the wood splitter.

Acording to Likins, Miller suffered serious injury to his right wrist. The Eastern Knox County Joint Fire District responded and called for a MedFlight helicopter, which landed at the scene. Miller was flown to Riverside Hospital, were Likins said Miller had surgery on his wrist. His condition was not known Thursday.
