After her Aunt Marlene was diagnosed with breast cancer in the spring of 2009, Olivia Bates knew she wanted to do something to help. “We’re really close in our family, and I just wanted to do something to help so that we could try to prevent breast cancer from spreading,” she said.
2009 was a very good and full year for the city of Mount Vernon.
